Hands and Feet

I've been thinking about this for awhile now and I thought I'd update my blog with my thoughts. Perhaps some of you have never worked outside or been out in the woods for extended periods of time. If this is you, you may not understand exactly what I'm about to describe.

There is something about working with your hands, and walking around in your bare feet. Sure, we all do this inside our cozy homesteads, but what of the forrest? Have you ever been deep in the woods barefoot? Have you ever just built a small campfire with your bare hands, stepping upon the soil with your bare feet? There is a real majestic feeling with this. I remember reading an article online about how the connection between the Earth and your bare feet is psychologically pleasing. There's some electromagnetic force that stimulates dopamine or something rather in your brain which in turn makes you feel good. I imagine the same feeling when my mother strokes my hair when I'm laying down. This feeling that I speak of is something worth experiencing. I promise it's not the most life changing event you'll ever experience, but if you have time and the willingness to try it, take your shoes off, go outside, and simply walk the woods. Touch the trees, feel the grass, walk the trails of an old forrest park perhaps. It might sound hippie of me to bring this concept up, but there really is no other feeling, in my mind, that compares to the peacefulness of this one.

I Want to Apologize

People of the World,

I want to apologize for being MIA (missing in action) for the past month or so. School and fraternity stuff has kept me busy as hell and I haven't had any time to make a video unless I make one at midnight or some other ridiculous time. Things should begin to relax here soon and I'll be able to post again, granted I may only be able to post once a week or so. I know I keep making the same excuse for not posting but I promise I haven't forgotten about you all! Give me some time to get through all this busy work and I'll be back on the Sleight of Hand 101 sooner than you think. Thanks for understanding!

Updates Fa Dayz

People of the world,

I apologize for not posting on my Blog for almost a month. It's been hectic in my life recently and I feel bad about not updating you guys. So, let's catch up shall we?

SLEIGHT OF HAND 101
The Sleight of Hand 101 contest ends tonight at midnight and I have to say you guys KILLED it! I believe we're up to 35 entries into the competition and I could not be more proud of everyone's videos! You guys are the reason I make tutorials, and I really enjoy seeing you showcase your skills! I will be judging each video for the next three days and determining my three winners, but understand one thing; even if you don't win, that does NOT mean that I don't appreciate your submission! For that reason, I will have a small surprise waiting for everyone on the day I post the results video (March 4th).

SCHOOL
I have been working extremely hard on school this semester in attempts to get straight As. Now let's get some quick background info out on the table. The ONLY time I've been able to nail straight As was in 3rd grade. It's not like I'm a lazy student, but academics has always been a tough part of my life. I hit the library for almost 3 hours a DAY and I'm still struggling for those straight As. Granted I know for a fact that I have 3 As out of my 5 classes, which is amazing, but still not where I'm trying to get to. I will definitely keep you guys informed on my academics as the semester carries on.

LOVE LIFE
As facebook so eloquently puts it, I am still single. The single life isn't bad, don't get me wrong, but I've been yearning for a real relationship for a long long time. That's not to say that I'm scouring the globe for women, but it does mean that I'm interested. I will not just throw myself at any beautiful dame I come in contact with, but when the time is right and I know she, whoever she is, is the one, I will most definitely be making that relationship move. So as of right now, there's not much to say, however the future always holds something beautiful for me, I just have to be patient enough to find it.

That's really all I've got right now guys. Keep in touch through my facebook page and my youtube channel and we'll all definitely have a good time! You fellas, and lady fellas, are the coal to my train! I wouldn't be running without you guys! Be cool, kick ass in school, and NEVER EVER be the fool.

Sonder

This is incredibly mind bottling so I thought I'd share this with you.

Sonder
The realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own - populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and inherited craziness - an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you'll never know existed, in which you might appear only once, as an extra sipping coffee in the background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway, as a lighted window at dusk.

Slow Walker Syndrome

I’ll admit that this problem is more based on High School dilemma than here at the college level, however the issue still applies. Slow f*cking walkers. I can’t say I truly understand the premise behind this conundrum, but I do see some possible reasons for engaging in said syndrome. Looks are a big part of today’s society from what we wear, to how we style our hair, to the specific way we present ourselves to others visually. Honestly, it’s a tragedy that society these days processes friendships and attraction this way. This being said, perhaps walking slowly to class or to wherever one is headed might be an indication of social stature, or self-conscious awareness of how “cool” someone looks. Could it be possible that these people simply don’t understand the idea of common courtesy? A sidewalk or a hallway is only as wide as you make it. If you’re in deep conversation with a friend, that doesn’t give you the right to take up half the hallway, moving at record speed for a snail. If you’re busy texting and unaware of the human beings around you, that doesn’t mean you can stand in the middle of the sidewalk to finish a message that could have been typed in the grass. Or in the middle of the road… We’ve all dealt with this situation in our own ways. What typically follows are subtweets, verbal bashing to friends, and hell sometimes people get physical! I just have one thing to say to these lowlife scum of the universe. To all those who exhibit Slow Walker Syndrome, just know that no matter where you are, what you’re wearing, or how cool you look, if you don’t pick up the pace, I WILL MOW YOU DOWN.

Nostalgia

Nostalgia is an incredible powerful concept. In alliance with Sentimentality these two words bring upon the feeling of happiness, and even sadness at times. Today I posted a youtube video discussing the how-to behind an intermediate card trick. Said trick is known as the Cardini Change. It makes me chuckle because one of my first memories of learning card magic was watching a youtube tutorial on said Cardini Change. Now I'm the one posting the tutorial. It astounds me because I remember back then in specific detail where I was located in the room, what deck of cards I was holding, how sunny it was outside, and even the noise of the vacuum cleaner downstairs. That, coinciding with my new tutorial, gave me a very rewarding feeling. So I guess... Here's to Nostalgia!
